General Description:
The Science Museum of Minnesota surveyed 16 museum visitors after they participated in the Exploring Measurement: Ruler Activity at NanoDays. This formative testing of the activity assessed the activity’s ability to convey the size of a nanometer, and that scientists need to use special tools when working at the nanoscale.
Major Findings:
The formative evaluation of the Exploring Measurement: Ruler Activity showed that the activity was successful at conveying the size of a nanometer, but unsuccessful at conveying that scientists use special tools to work at the nanoscale. Many visitors found the activity interesting, and most found the activity enjoyable. Additionally, more than half of the visitors found the activity easy to understand.
