General Description:

In August of 2008, participants at the Science Museum of Minnesota’s NISE Net Regional workshop provided feedback on the University of Wisconsin MRSEC’s Nano 101 Program for museum educators. A total of 20 participants completed self-administered surveys about the program. This formative evaluation assesses the program’s effectiveness in educating museum educators about the basics of nanotechnology.

Major Findings:

The formative evaluation of MRSEC’s Nano 101 Program showed that the program was effective in teaching basic nanotechnology concepts. A majority of participants felt comfortable enough to explain to the public a majority of the topics covered in the program. Participants felt most comfortable with basic topics such as the definition of a nanometer, and less comfortable with more nuanced topics such as how nanotechnology will affect society.
