Exciting News! 
The MRS Spring Meeting relocates to Phoenix, Arizona beginning in 2016.  

We are looking forward to a new and exciting chapter in MRS Meetings!

While there are many benefits to this move, most important is the size of the Phoenix Convention Center. It will allow all meeting activities to take place "under one roof," providing attendees easier access to multiple symposia and enhancing the interdisciplinary nature of the MRS Meeting.  In addition, Phoenix offers expanded networking opportunities with the informal science education community, especially with the Arizona Science Center and Arizona State University Center for Engagement and Training in Science & Society.  In other words, MRS will be better able to serve its members and the materials community.

Help build an MRS community of shared practice by stopping by the Public Outreach Center’s Focus on Sustainability booth in The Hub - your meeting destination for information on all things sustainable, including: research, funding, education, public outreach, corporate social responsibility, and MRS meeting activities and publications.

The NISE Network selected March 26-April 3, 2016 for NanoDays 2016. Learn more about this week of community-based educational outreach events to raise public awareness of nanoscale science and engineering in local communities across the United States.

MRS Fall Meeting attendees can explore educational outreach activities with the support of national science museums, MRSECs and researchers presenting the latest Nanodays activities in materials science and nanotechnology.

Dazzling Diamonds and the Quantum Revolution  

Diamond is already famous for its outstanding hardness and brilliance, its thermal conductivity and biocompatibility, its density and transparency… but now diamonds are also beginning to show dazzling potential in magnetometry, optical sensing, biotechnology, and even in quantum cryptography and computing.  Learn more about these unique properties from Karine Thate, an educator from the Museum of Science, Boston.

Science Writing Workshop
Learn the techniques required to take any story—a news story, journalistic article, blog entry or profile of a scientist—to the next level with the MRS Science Writing Workshop! 

Applications were submitted prior to the meeting to attend this free, one-day writing workshop, which will be held on Sunday, November 29, in parallel with the 2015 MRS Fall Meeting in Boston. The workshop will offer tips, opportunities, challenges and guidelines to help writers create a high-grade, engaging science article. By exploring various categories of journalistic science writing, they will learn writing strategies that enhance the art of storytelling. The workshop will also demonstrate questioning techniques, strategies and technical tools that improve interviewing skills.

The Science Writing Workshop is limited to 12 participants, and applications are required. The application period ended on October 13, 2015.
