Please join our growing community of professionals dedicated to sharing knowledge and expertise in a variety of venues.
The Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Network) is a national community of researchers and informal science educators dedicated to fostering public awareness, engagement, and understanding of nanoscale science, engineering, and technology. Research institutions, museums and informal science organizations who are interested in communicating with the public about nanoscale research are welcomed and encouraged to join our growing community of professionals dedicated to sharing knowledge and expertise in a variety of venues.
A focal point of our work is NanoDays, a week of community-based educational outreach events designed to raise public awareness of nanoscale science, technology, and engineering. In 2008, the NISE Network distributed 100 physical NanoDays kits to museums and university research centers throughout the United States. In 2009, 225 NanoDays kits were distributed to locations throughout the United States. Digital versions of kits are available for download from the website as well.
The NISE Network community within the United States is organized around eight "regional hubs" based on geographic proximity; we have also set up an international hub for those located outside of the United States. Regional hubs facilitate partner interaction in the Network, help museum educators connect with researchers and each other, host regional workshops and meetings, and providing support to institutions in their region. To get more involved with the Network, find your region on the map, and contact your regional hub.
The Network expansion depends on the input of partners. The NISE Net is about growth and the productive sharing of ideas and resources in all directions. Everyone in the network is encouraged to share their ideas, questions, improvements, as well as, the thrills of victory and the agonies of defeat.
