I am a (long time) staff designer at the Exploratorium, involved in interactive exhibit development, exhibition space and curatorial design, and graphics/communication design. I have worked with researchers focused on exhibit behavior and interpretive labels. On the NISE VizLab team my role is Art Director/Designer and I'm involved in researching ways to visualize and communicate scale, and producing visual resources and templates for the network. So Far the VizLab team work includes scale ladders, interactive zooms, and illustrated zooms. Informal notes on my thoughts and process can be found in my design notebooks available on line. I have a background in Art. VizLab interests: aesthetics and interpretation of nanoimagery and interactive information design.
