Glenda Kelly, PhD Research Scientist Associate Director of Assessment & Outreach-CEINT Center for Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology Pratt School of Engineering Duke University Office Phone (919) 660-5575 Email: glenda.kelly@duke.edu Glenda Kelly is a Research Scientist and Associate Director for Assessment and Outreach for the Center for the Environmental Implications of NanoTechnology (CEINT), Pratt School of Engineering.Dr. Kelly serves as evaluator for CEINT and designs and implements the overall program evaluation for the Center. She works with CEINT faculty and staff to define measurable educational objectives for activities related to communicating scientific discoveries emerging from Center research. In addition Dr. Kelly coordinates and develops K-12 educational outreach initiatives for CEINT. She also oversees the summer research and educational programs for high school students within CEINT. Her interests include building a network of collaborative partners to sustain and disseminate K-Ph.D. educational and research experiences in the critical area of nanomaterials science and environmental risk assessment. She has extensive background developing and evaluating science and engineering K-12 educational outreach programs and has special interest in developing ways to teach science and engineering to optimally engage diverse populations especially females and underrepresented minorities and in utilizing visualization as a significant learning component . Since 2001 she has worked in the area of developing, and evaluating K-12 engineering/science outreach programs, training and supervising K-12 Duke teaching fellows, and designing user studies to test the efficacy of educational applications in the Duke Immersive Virtual Environment. Dr. Kelly earned her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Duke University with a concentration in statistics and development of assessment tools.
