PROFILE

I have worked with the UW MRSEC education group in some form or another since 2002 and have been director since July 2007. As part of this group, I work with scientists and engineers from a variety of disciplines, as well as teachers and other outreach and informal education folks, to create nanotechnology education materials, including curriculum, museum prototypes, kits, table-top demonstrations, websites, programs, and a host of other fun stuff. I came to the MRSEC from academia - but not a scientific field. I earned my undergrad degree in German literature, and then went on to earn two master's degrees - the first in history and philosophy of science from Cambridge University (UK) and the second in history of science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I ultimately decided that the world of academic history of science wasn't for me, and I decided to pursue formal and informal science education as a full-time career.
