Ms. Phillip has been a public librarian with Queens Library for the past nine years. She graduated with her Master of Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and fled Madison's beastly cold winters for a slightly warmer clime in New York. She worked her way up, starting as a General Assistant, to her current position as Division Manager for the Information Services Division. Among other things, the staff in this division answer roughly 1,500 e-mail and chat reference questions yearly for the borough of Queens and nationally and manage a very busy interlibrary loan service.
Ms. Phillip is the Project Manager for Science in the Stacks, a project recently funded by the NSF, "which aims to demonstrate the merits of a new model for children's library services" in urban public libraries.
Ms. Phillip truly enjoys the varied assignments of her job and delights in telling people that there is never a dull moment in a public library.
