The mission of the Detroit Science Center is to inspire visitors to pursue and support careers in engineering, technology and science.
Founded by Detroit businessman and philanthropist Dexter Ferry nearly 30 years ago, the Detroit Science Center was among the first centers for scientific exploration and learning in the country to include an IMAX® Dome Theatre. An exhibit floor and program plan encouraged hands-on interaction, exploration and study of science and technology.
The Detroit Science Center is a private, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization which receives no federal or state funding for operations and operates solely through support from foundations, corporations, individuals and admissions.
