Redshift Productions

Redshift Productions connects audiences to science by facilitating artist/scientist collaboration. Past theatrical productions include: Off-Broadway: the world premieres of Carl Djerassi's Phallacy, Three on a Couch, and Taboos; Roger Payne and Lisa Harrows' SeaChange: Reversing the Tide. Off-Off Broadway: Redshift Productions' Elements, Galileo: The Emotional Life of a Spacecraft, and Happy Hour at the Event Horizon. Redshift has also provided science themed entertainment to scientific conferences and symposia, and has conducted informal science education workshops. Regional: Dance of Scales, a dance and spoken word performance featuring a physicist and choreographer, about movement at different scales, performed at the Light in Winter Festival 2010; EcoTales, a workshop in invasive species and storytelling wherein children wrote and performed short stories about invasive species. Upcoming: Live at the Event Horizon, video sketch comedy featuring guest scientists. Inherited: a play about the difficulties of teaching evolution in hostile environments. Redshift Productions has been featured on ABC News Nightline, CBS Sunday Morning, and NPR’s Talk of the Nation: Science Friday; and in The New York Times, TimeOUT New York, Variety, and The Village Voice, as well as several other entertainment industry outlets.
