Kim Duncan [3] recently posted a nice adaptation of the Shrinking Robots! [4] program for children's museum audiences.
The original program [4] explores robots, how small robots are today, and the challenges in creating nano-sized robots ("nanobots"). The activity as posted is about an hour long, including a presentation and a craft activity. Kim simplified the learning goals for a younger audience and tweaked the structure a bit to fit into a "science story time [5]" program at the Madison Children's Museum [6]. The adaptation includes a reading of the story "Hello, Robots" [7] by Bob Staake [8] and some lessons learned about printing onto avery postcards.
Rae Ostman [9] will be presenting the adapted program [10] at the Association of Children's Museums Conference [11] in Philadelphia next week.
