Born and raised around the Long Lake/Maple Plain (MN) area near the Twin Cities, I graduated from Orono High School, Augsburg College (BA),Minnesota State University at Mankato (MA), and Iowa State University (PhD), with additional work at Oberlin College, the University of Minnesota. I have been a college professor at a number of sites in Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, and South Dakota, teaching a broad range of courses in sociology. I also have some experience teaching and doing research in the former republics of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s.
I currently live in the Bluff Country of southeast Minnesota, and am self-employed as a practicing sociologist, working with community development, economic development, grant writing, consulting to non profits and city committees, and teaching online for Kaplan University in the social sciences.
