Sean Smith

Sean has been the Director of Government and Public Relations for the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) since February of 2001. Prior to joining the ASTC staff, he spent 3½ years working for United States Senator Barbara A. Mikulski of Maryland. He ultimately served Senator Mikulski as a Professional Staff Member and Legislative Assistant on an Appropriations Subcommittee that was responsible for providing funding for a long list of U.S. federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Sean graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Speech Communication and did graduate work in rhetoric and political communication at the Pennsylvania State University prior to working on Capitol Hill.
