Short Activities
Short activities are brief hands-on experiences lasting less than 15 minutes for small groups of people.
They are often presented at a table, cart, or demonstration space in a variety of settings such as a museum exhibit gallery, classroom, or other public or group setting. Multiple short activities can be combined to form a longer activity.
Forms of Carbon
In this activity, learners interact with models of four different forms of carbon to explore how the nanoscale arrangement of atoms dramatically impacts a material’s macroscale behavior.
Product
Nano Future Tellers
In this activity, learners play an origami-folded, interactive pocket game to explore future nano products.
Product
Exploring Products - Computer Hard Drives
In this activity, learners use floating ring magnets to store data and model how computer hard drives works.
Product
Exploring Materials - Nano Gold
In this activity, learners discover that nanoparticles of gold can appear red, orange or even blue.
Product
Macro, Micro and Nano Memory card game
In this activity, learners play a memory game to explore the macroscale, microscale and nanoscale through representative objects.
Product
Building with Biology: See DNA
In this activity focused on synthetic biology, learners extract visible DNA from wheat germ and create necklaces to display their own sample of wheat germ DNA.
Product
Exploring the Solar System: Solar Eclipse
In this activity, learners investigate the positions of the Sun, Earth, and Moon to create shadows and learn about solar eclipses.
Product
Exploring the Solar System: Mars Rovers
In this activity, learners must work together to navigate a large obstacle course, similar to how scientists and engineers communicate with rovers to explore distant worlds.
Product
Exploring Earth: Land Cover
In this activity, learners model some of the ways natural processes affect Earth’s landscape through erosion and sediment pollution.
Product
Good Life Challenge
In this activity, learners connect individual actions that support the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, (SDG).
