With the end of the year and decade just ahead of us, lots of people are looking back and compiling their top ten lists (for example, here, here, here, here, and here). Andrew Maynard (a NISE Net advisor and Chief Science Advisor on the Wilson Center's Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies), however, is looking forward.
He recently posted his predictions of ten emerging technology trends worth watching in the next ten years on his blog, 2020 Science. Manipulation of matter at the nanoscale is key to a number of the predictions, and it's an interesting read.
Once you've read Maynard's predictions, check out the NISE Net's Flying Cars program all about predictions of future technology.
