Nanoscale Informal Learning Experiences: NISE Network Learning Framework

The NISE Net learning framework indicates how our educational experiences support the six interrelated strands of learning documented by the National Research Council. It describes three principles, which are supported by examples of the kinds of activities visitors do when they participate in NISE Net programs, exhibits, and media. Two versions of this resource are available: a single-sided (one page) version and a double-sided (two page) version.

Nanometer-sized things are very small, and often behave differently than larger things do.
Scientists and engineers have formed the interdisciplinary field of nanotechnology by investigating properties and manipulating matter at the nanoscale.
Nanoscience, nanotechnology, and nanoengineering lead to new knowledge and innovations that weren't possible before.
Nanotechnologies—and their costs, utility, risks, and benefits—are closely interconnected with society and with our values.
